The Capstone Board is composed of volunteers who plan and organize the yearly event. Most of the committee is composed of Alumni from the University of Alberta Mechanical Engineering department. It is our goal to recognize the accomplishments of future engineering graduates.



Cole Nychka, E.I.T. - Capstone Board Chair
B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering Co-Op - 2005
Cole works for ATCO Gas as an engineering resource to their regulatory and rate development department. Cole's job also requires assisting with proper depreciation of capital assets including asset life and cost of removal forecasts. This is Cole's 3rd year on the Capstone Board and 2nd as its Chair.



Jordan James, E.I.T. - Past Chair
B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering Co-Op - 2005
Jordan currently is employed as a Project Engineer for a downhole tool design company. Part of his job includes the design of downhole tools as well as supporting manufacturing. Jordan has been involved with the Capstone Board for five years and was Chair for two years.



Curt Stout, P.Eng. - Director, Trophy Manufacturing
B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering
Curt is currently a professor at the University of Alberta where he teaches Mechanical Engineering design classes, including MecE 460. Curt is a founding member of the Capstone Board.



Levi McCarroll, P.Eng. - Director, Marketing
B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering - 2002
Levi is a self-employed engineering design consultant specializing in the development of consumer products and vehicles using Computer Aided Design (CAD). Levi's work includes industrial design, prototyping, component and assembly design and full production tooling development. He has also worked in the Alberta oil and gas industry in the development of high-tech drilling systems. Levi has been involved with the Capstone Board for the past five years.



Clinton Windhorst, E.I.T. - Director, Fundraising
B. Sc. Materials Engineering - 2006
Clinton works for ATCO Gas as a distribution design engineer. Clinton’s responsibilities include designing, estimating and reporting for new growth and improvement projects in addition to operational support needs. This is Clinton's 2nd year on the Capstone Board.



Marta Kortz, E.I.T. - Director, Public Relations
B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering - 2008
Marta works for ATCO Gas as a distribution design engineer. Her responsibilities include designing gas distribution systems, estimating and creating construction packages, and providing operational support. This is Marta’s 1st year on the Capstone Board.
